Le Kino-palatsi, avec son architecture Art nouveau, etait la plus grande et la plus somptueuse salle de cinema de Helsinki. La salle pouvait accueillir non seulement des projections de films, mais egalement des concerts, des concours de beaute et meme des competitions de natation. Dans les annees 1960, alors que la destruction frenetique de batiments anciens battait son plein, les speculations immobilieres eurent raison de ce lieu mythique. En 1965, le Kino-palatsi fut detruit, entrainant avec lui un pan de l'histoire de Helsinki.
