« The Coffin » s’inspire d’un rituel thaï qui consiste à s’endormir dans un cercueil pour un nombre déterminé de jours afin de se débarrasser de la malchance et d’éloigner le mal. Chris, dont la fiancée se meure, et Sue, atteinte d’un cancer en phase terminale, décident d’accomplir ce rituel pour changer leur vies. Chris et Sue sont rapidement confrontés à une série d’incidents paranormaux durant le rituel mais décident de poursuivre l’expérience. Bientôt, ces évènements terrifiants viennent les hanter, et avec l’aide d’un professeur spécialisé dans les rituels et événements paranormaux, ils partent exorciser les fantômes qui les hantent pour tenter de conjurer la mort.
