Comédien de talent, prisonnier du rôle d’un pitoyable lapin d’une émission de télévision new-yorkaise pour enfants, Will maugrée, persuadé que tout le monde a oublié son anniversaire. Mais lorsque la voiture qu’on lui a volée est impliquée dans un accident auquel tout le monde croit qu’il a succombé, Will décide d’assister à ses propres obsèques pour savoir ce que tout le monde pense vraiment de lui. Avec la complicité de son meilleur ami Rad, un restaurateur indien, Will devient Vijay Singh, un séduisant Sikh. Étonnamment, sa femme Julia a un coup de cœur pour Vijay et Will finit par lui faire la cour, caché sous ce déguisement.
